Always wash your hands before administering your eye drops. If somebody else does it for you such as a carer they are supposed to wash their hands and then use disposable gloves. Remember that our eyes are extremely vulnerable to infection and tip-top hygiene should always be paramount. Eye Medication and Repeat Prescriptions Has your consultant prescribed eye medication for you and are you using it? We often visit clients who have been given medication by their Ophthalmologist and do not know why and have discontinued its use. It is very important that you check with your Ophthalmologist or GP and find out what you are using the medication for and whether it should be used on an ongoing basis and arrange with your GP for it to be on a repeat prescription.
